Fueling the Fire: Sadler’s Weekend Frustrations Boost Swindon Prep
Head coach Mat Sadler of Walsall maintains that there is still plenty to play for and plans to channel his anger from Saturday’s loss to Notts County into a positive mindset for Tuesday night’s matchup with Swindon Town.
Having lost their last two games, the Saddlers will be hoping to bounce back. Walsall is still only three points out of the play-off spots despite their recent losses, and Sadler emphasized that nothing would be decided this weekend.
In fact, with Crawley Town’s loss to Colchester United helping the Saddlers, there is still very much to play for.
Before Saturday’s game, he stated, “I knew it would be (still all to play for), and the way the results panned out, it’s even more so the case.”
“For us, we simply want to go into it with a positive mindset and put the weekend behind us. In football, there are days when things don’t go as planned.
We’re devastated by that because everything was predicated on the support and our feelings regarding the game. Nevertheless, we must turn it into fuel for the next one, and our goal is to be standing here on Tuesday night with a much improved outlook on the future.
One thing that went well over the weekend was that Saddlers supporters saw their first glimpse of Jamie Jellis, who made his eagerly anticipated debut off the bench after recovering from an injury he sustained at Tamworth just before moving to the Poundland Bescot Stadium.
Sadler was happy to see the midfield player on the field and is eager to see what the future holds for him. “I’m thrilled for Jamie,” he said. “He has worked so hard to be a member of the group, and I wanted to offer him that as a gift for all of his hard work.
He has been amazing in his desire to try and get back in. “He’s a young man with a bright future, so I’m happy to see him make his NFL debut.”
In other news, Sadler gave an explanation for the omissions of Emmanuel Adegboyega from the 18 and Jackson Smith from the squad, which occurred once more.
I was glad to see Manny and Donervon (Daniels) return and switch back to Dave over there on the right side. “I just felt like everything had caught up with Manny on Tuesday night and he needed that little bit of a rest.
He has been fantastic in his first EFL season. We’re lucky to have the Skipper ready to go, and I felt he gained more clout as the match progressed.
Because Jacko has a concussion, Owen Evans continues to play in goal, so it’s a blessing that we have the players we need to fill those roles. The group will be put to the test because Brandon will miss the following game, so we must win.
