Breaking News: Rotherham United Cuts Ties with Reading FC Legends Amidst…

Following their relegation from the Championship, Rotherham United released 11 players, including Sean Morrison and Tyler Blackett, who were previously at Reading.

The Millers finished the season 24 points outside of safety after scoring just 27 points. They were demoted with a whimper.

Steve Evans, a previous favorite of the Millers, left League One Stevenage with two games remaining so he could evaluate the team before announcing his release and retention list.

For League One next season, just 12 players have been retained; 11 players, including Blackett and Morrison, have been discharged.

The 30-year-old Blackett joined the South Yorkshire team in October after moving to New York Stadium from Cincinnati in 2022. He made 18 appearances for the team.

The adaptable defender, a former Manchester United youth prospect, made over 100 appearances for Reading between 2016 and 2020.

While everything was going on, 33-year-old Morrison made 45 appearances for Reading between 2010 and 2014; nonetheless, he is most remembered for his 8-year stint (295 games) with Cardiff City.

The seasoned center back, who moved to Rotherham in 2022, overcame injuries to play 30 games for the Millers during a challenging season.

Andy Rinomhota, a Reading Academy alum, is back at Cardiff City after spending last season on loan at Rotherham.
