One player who Chelsea has looked at ahead of this summer’s transfer season appears to be going to be missed. It looks like Chelsea needs a new center defender. When his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, Thiago Silva will be departing the team; his transfer to Fluminense has already been confirmed.
Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill, and Benoit Badiashile will still be available to Mauricio Pochettino, but it looks like the team is open to adding another center-back. Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham is one player whose name has been connected to a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle United is expected to defeat Chelsea. Chelsea will need to react quickly if they truly intend to sign Adarabioyo. Newcastle United is getting more and more certain, according to HITC, that they will prevail in the competition for the 26-year-old.
When it comes to center backs in the Premier League, Adarabioyo is a very tempting option. He will not cost anything because his contract is due to expire and he is clearly familiar with the division.
Chelsea can afford to let Newcastle United sign Tosin Adarabioyo. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if Adarabioyo chose to join Newcastle over Chelsea, given the latter are not exactly short on center backs.
However, they are able to survive without Adarabioyo because Disasi, Colwill, Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah, and Wesley Fofana are all still alive. It could be necessary to replace Silva’s leadership and experience, but Adarabioyo is probably not the person who will step in and achieve it.
After all, the Brazilian captained the final team of his three-team career, having played for Chelsea, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. Silva has also accumulated more than 100 caps for his nation. It won’t be happening if Chelsea intends to replace him this summer.
