Yeovil Exodus: Players Bid Farewell – Fans Stunned as Key Names Depart

Four former Weymouth and Dorchester Town loanees have been released by YEOVIL Town in the wake of the Glovers’ player retention list being revealed.

Will Dawes and Malachi Linton, two former Terras loanees, have chosen not to have their contracts renewed by Mark Cooper.

Little Ollie Haste and Benjani Jr., who have both had a great season with Dorchester Town, will also be leaving Huish Park this summer.

Weymouth will be especially interested in Linton’s departure considering his stellar play this season at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Under former manager Bobby Wilkinson, he managed 11 appearances with five goals and one assist.

It is unclear if the new manager, Mark Molesley, will want to go for the striker, but he may offer a target man in a manner akin to how Molesley used Ben Thomson during his first tenure.

Dawes, on the other hand, spent the 2022–2023 season on loan at Weymouth, where he played just 73 minutes in three games.

This summer, the availability of Haste will be a key discussion topic over the Ridgeway at Dorchester.

Haste, a left-back in a young back line this season, has scored three goals in 39 games, making a significant impact for the Magpies.

Haste was also a fixture in every game during Dorchester’s amazing 12-game winning streak, which ended on Saturday against Basingstoke.

Benjani Jr., on the other hand, had trouble making an immediate impression.

Benjani, the son of Portsmouth and Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwari, was called up by Yeovil in October after the Magpies’ eight games without a goal.

Yeovil has extended a contract offer to former Weymouth loanee Sam Pearson, and the two are now in negotiations over a possible deal.
