Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has become a topic of trade speculation as we approach the 2025 offseason, with the Arizona Cardinals potentially interested in acquiring the star player. Hill’s impressive speed and ability to turn short passes into long touchdowns would make him a valuable asset to the Cardinals’ offense, which is in need of a dynamic playmaker.
After finishing the previous season with an 8-9 record, the Cardinals are entering their third year of rebuilding under general manager Monti Ossenfort. With ample salary cap space and draft picks, they have the opportunity to enhance their roster by adding a talent like Hill.
The potential cost for Hill, according to Doug Haller of The Athletic, might be a third-round pick. Haller notes that Ossenfort has focused on building the team through the draft rather than making high-profile trades or signings. Despite a less-than-ideal finish to the 2024 season, the Cardinals have made progress and seem poised to add more talent to their roster.
The argument for pursuing Hill is straightforward: Kyler Murray needs more support. Although the team has promising players like tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., they lack a consistent deep threat. Hill could alleviate some pressure on Harrison, allowing him to develop at a more natural pace.
However, there are challenges beyond financial considerations. Hill’s fit within the locker room is a significant factor for head coach Jonathan Gannon, who prioritizes team culture. While a third-round pick might not satisfy Miami’s demands, the financial implications of committing to Hill—who will be 31 in March—pose additional risks.
Hill has two years remaining on his contract, with hefty cap hits of $28.6 million and $51.8 million respectively. Despite these concerns, Ossenfort has previously shown adeptness at managing the salary cap, suggesting that a trade could still be feasible.
Ultimately, the question remains whether Hill will be available on the trade market, but if he is, the Cardinals might have the chance to secure one of the league’s premier wide receivers for a relatively low draft investment.
