Stoke City make Tom Cannon statement as Leicester City make final loan decision
Although Tom Cannon has already scored 11 goals this season while on loan from Leicester at Stoke City, his performance has drawn attention from Championship suitors.
After scoring eleven goals for Stoke, Tom Cannon was called up by Leicester.
An option to recall Tom Cannon from a successful loan at Stoke City was activated by Leicester City late last night.
The 22-year-old striker has scored 11 goals for Stoke so far this season, but his consistency has drawn interest from Championship teams like Sunderland and Sheffield United, who are vying for promotion.
Leicester had the option to recall him in January, but it expired at midnight, so they made the decision right before the clock struck twelve. He had been content to remain at the bet365 Stadium.
Stoke have issued a statement saying: “Tom has our thanks for his commitment to the Stoke City cause during his loan spell with the club. We wish him well for the future.”
Nathan Lowe, who had an outstanding loan spell at Walsall, has already been called up by new Stoke manager Mark Robins. He joins Emre Tezgel, Niall Ennis, and Sam Gallagher in the strike department; however, Gallagher is currently in the treatment room due to a hamstring injury, and Ennis and Tezgel have hardly played this season.
The Potters were already looking to try to sign a new forward, and as the transfer deadline approaches at the end of this month, their search will get more intense.
