Southampton have assembled a good squad in their return to the Premier League alongside having a great squad depth. Therefore, they have agreed to send several young players on a season long loan transfer in order for them to get more playing time. Recently, former Manchester City academy talent Samuel Edozie has joined Belgian club Anderlecht on a loan move from Southampton.
Kamaldeen Sulemana is also very close to leaving the Saints on a loan transfer with Dutch side Ajax having agreed to bring him from the St. Mary’s Stadium this season. Now another promising star has left Russell Martin’s side in order to improve his development as a first team player. Shea Charles is a 20-year-old midfielder who came through the youth ranks at Premier League Champions Manchester City and joined the Saints last year.
Shea Charles joins Sheffield Wednesday on a loan transfer
Recently, Charles joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on a season long loan transfer on the final day of the transfer window. Charles made his Sheffield Wednesday debut in a 3-0 defeat against Milwall in the league match, but gave a good performance in the match. After the match, Charles revealed his decision to join the Championship side where he has reunited with his younger brother, who is a goalkeeper, after having played together for City’s youth teams.
“I was looking to go out on loan this season and I think this is a great club and a great manager to work under. I think my brother was surprised – we are both happy with it. We have been together with Northern Ireland. That was a proud moment.”
