Report Update: Man United Eyeing Blockbuster Toney Transfer as Mazraoui Deal Nears Finalization

Manchester United’s pre-season tour has now concluded and all eyes are starting to turn to the beginning of the serious football next weekend.

While some may consider the Community Shield to be a glorified pre-season friendly, a clash against fierce rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium with silverware on the line will ensure Erik ten Hag takes the game seriously. After losing 3-0 to Liverpool in their final match in the United States, the Reds will be hoping for a reaction in the capital on Saturday.

However, the pressing concern coming out of the defeat to Arne Slot’s men was the lack of squad depth. Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire all have question marks over their fitness with Leny Yoro already out with a long-term injury sustained against Arsenal.

The desire will be to add further recruits to the team before the start of the Premier League campaign in less than two weeks. Ivan Toney continues to be linked as Brentford begin to panic about gaining any significant money for their striker.

Meanwhile, a medical for Noussair Mazraoui has been scheduled according to reports. Matthijs de Ligt remains a target to bolster the centre-back options with Bayern Munich hinting this weekend that his time at the club could be drawing to a close.

Leipzig re-sign Simons

German outfit RB Leipzig have re-signed Paris Saint-Germain attacking-midfielder Xavi Simons.

The Netherlands international, who had been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks, has joined the Bundesliga club for the second season in succession, once again signing on loan.

He scored 10 goals and registered 15 assists for Leipzig.
