News Confirmation: Leicester City in Jubilation Over …
Leicester City have beaten off interest in out-of-contract Wilfred Ndidi and agreed fresh terms with the sought-after midfielder.
Ndidi has signed a new three-year deal that will keep him at the King Power Stadium until at least the summer of 2027. Assuming he reaches the end of the contract that will mean he will have been at City for more than a decade.
Ndidi has mad 273 appearances since he joined from Genk in January 2017, an impressive 192 in the Premier League. He added another 32 in the Championship last season and enjoyed something of a reinvention under Enzo Maresca.
Having built his reputation as a deep-lying midfielder, Maresca pushed him further forward and he responded by supplying four goals and five assists as the Foxes claim the title and promotion back to the top flight.
However, the 27-year-old’s contract was up and he had several options on the table, finally choosing to stay and work with Maresca’s successor Steve Cooper. His retention adds depth to options that include Harry Winks, Hamza Choudhury, Ricardo Pereira and even new signing Michael Golding.
