Kirby Smart Left Furious as 5-Star Commit Drops Shocking New Twist in Recruitment

Donte Wright continues to be a major problem for Kirby Smart. Wright is a newly crowned five-star recruit that has been committed to Georgia since June. Normally his inclusion would be a big reason for Smart to be excited, but Wright has been giving UGA more headaches than anything else.

The latest development however is arguably the biggest dose of bad news Georgia has received as Wright announced a laundry list of official visits he is going to make this fall.

5-star Donte Wright is trending away from Georgia

Wright has been committed to Georgia since June. All of 2025 he remained very loyal to Georgia, but as the calendar flipped to 2026 he started showing signs of having interest in other schools. His external interest hit an all time high this week when Oregon received an official prediction to flip him.

Wright however threw a curveball no one saw coming as he publicly stated he is still 100 percent locked in with Georgia even after this prediction. Who knows if that is accurate or not, but it’s looking like that is not the case.

On Friday Wright made his final act and announced that he is taking an official visit to six different schools. Yes, Georgia’s five-star commit who has been committed since June still wants to visit five other schools.

Georgia thankfully will get one of those visits at the end of May, but he will also visit UCLA, Oregon, Miami, Michigan and Auburn. Of these schools it is Oregon and Miami who are the biggest threats, but at this point anything is still possible.

It would be a miracle at this point if Smart can find a way to keep Wright in Georgia’s recruiting class. Sure he is still committed, but he no longer is acting like one and it may just be a matter of time until he decommits from the program.
