JUST IN: Revelation Unveiled Following Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys’ Promotion to Premier League
Following their 2-0 victory over Huddersfield, which sealed Huddersfield’s relegation to League One, Ipswich was promoted to the Premier League.
As Kieran McKenna’s team entered the season’s last game with a three-point lead over Leeds in third place, promotion was certain with just a draw.
However, they went up with a flourish thanks to a crisp finish from Wes Burns and Omari Hutchinson’s third goal in as many outings.
After been automatically promoted from Sky Bet League One as Plymouth’s runners-up the previous season, the Tractor Boys have now accomplished an incredible back-to-back promotion. They will now play in the top division for the first time since the 2001–02 season.
It means a great deal, McKenna said to Sky Sports. It’s a great day, and I’m really pleased of everyone involved, especially since I can see how much it means to everyone and I’m one of the leaders in that.

Before kickoff, thousands of Ipswich supporters were gathered outside the stadium, many of them brandishing flares and smoke bombs.
And in front of a waiting audience, the home team made a commanding start by trapping their opponent in their own half for the first 20 minutes of play.
Conor Chaplin’s 25-yard attempt nearly missed Terriers goalkeeper Chris Maxwell’s left-hand post, George Hirst’s header went wide, and Axel Tuanzebe’s drive from just inside the penalty area was diverted past the Huddersfield post.
Burns misjudged his header as he attempted to head the ball across the penalty area to an unmarked Chaplin.
In the twenty-fiveth minute, there was a breakaway and Ipswich should have taken the lead. Chaplin passed the ball to Burns, who needed to beat just Maxwell.
When Hirst first connected with Burns player Chaplin, his well-executed shot found its way narrowly inside the near post.
Burns appeared to be knocked over by Matty Pearson when he flicked the ball over the top for Chaplin to scramble onto, but referee Simon Hooper remained unfazed. It was all Ipswich.
The next Ipswich players to try their luck at the Huddersfield goal were Sam Morsy and Massimo Luongo, and after being completely outplayed for the opening forty-five minutes, the visitors exited the field.
Hutchinson helped the Tractor Boys expand their lead three minutes into the second quarter. After Morsy passed the ball to him, he shot from just inside the penalty area and found the goal.

The pop artist, who sponsors the team’s shirts, recorded himself filming himself getting up early in Miami to celebrate the Tractor Boys’ triumph with other Ipswich supporters, and then he video-called the players, who were ecstatic, in the changing room.
Sheeran can be heard on the call asking the players to a celebratory party on Wednesday when he returns to the UK. He jokes that he is being held back until then because he needs to earn the money to pay for his sponsorship.
