GOOD NEWS: West Brom Ready To Stun Fans With Sensational Winger Comeback

West Brom are attempting a deal to bring Mikey Johnston back to the club in the final stages of the transfer window after a proposed deal from Sheffield United has stalled.

With the Baggies looking for last-minute additions to their team after a mass exodus of talent throughout the summer window.

As Friday’s deadline looms ever closer, they do not have a lot of time to replace their departing players.

The club have managed to get a few good signings over the line, but both the manager and the fans know more are required.

They could have another signing soon, as an unlikely return for a star from last season is back on the cards.

Johnston Back to the Baggies?

According to Alan Nixon, West Brom are weighing up an offer for Celtic winger Mikey Johnston as they want their star from last season to return on a permanent basis.

Johnston was linked heavily with Sheffield United, but a recent bid for Gustavo Hamer being rejected by the club means any deal for Johnston has stalled massively.

The 25-year-old was very impressive during his loan spell at The Hawthorns last season, with this playing a massive part in the Baggies wanting a return.

In just 20 appearances, he managed seven goals and two assists as he helped propel the Baggies into a playoff spot.

The Irishman has spent his entire career with Celtic, with the academy graduate making just under 100 appearances for his boyhood club.

This move would likely be a new permanent home for Johnston however, with Sheffield United’s bid being around £2.5 million.

West Brom would have to better that bid if they wanted to secure his signature before the end of the transfer window, but time is very much running out for a deal to happen.

Should West Brom Resign Him?

Without a doubt, if the opportunity is there for West Brom to sign Johnston, they should do it.

He was a vital part of their team in the second half of last season and became a fan favourite as he helped propel the club to a top-six finish.

If they can fend off the interest from Sheffield United and get a deal done in time, he will be a huge coup for the Baggies as they eye another playoff push this season.
