Breaking News: Warriors Drop Bombshell Roster Update Ahead of Playoffs
The Golden State Warriors announced that Usman Garuba would be switching from a two-way contract to a conventional agreement before to the start of the NBA Playoffs.
The Warriors released the following statement regarding the signing: “Usman Garuba (oose-mon gah-ROO-bah), a forward/center, had his two-way contract converted to a conventional NBA contract by the Golden State Warriors, the team announced today.
In his 12 minutes of action throughout his five games with Golden State this season, Garuba, 22, has recorded two points, three rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal.
He played in 35 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s G League club, averaging 12.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 25.0 minutes per contest.
After being chosen by the Houston Rockets with the 23rd overall choice in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, Garuba spent three seasons with the Warriors and Rockets, accumulating career NBA averages of 2.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 11.8 minutes in 104 games (three of which he started).
The Madrid, Spain native played three seasons in Spain’s top league, Liga ACB, with Real Madrid (2018–21) before joining the NBA. Garuba participated internationally for his nation in the FIBA World Cup in 2023 as well as the 2020 Olympic Games.”
This takes up the last roster place for Golden State, which had been empty for some time. To qualify for the playoffs, the Warriors must first defeat the Sacramento Kings in their play-in game, and then they must defeat the winner of the play-in game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans.
