Breaking News: Insider Reveals Swindon Town’s Last-Minute Loss Of Sensational Player

Swindon Town have missed out on the potential signing of one of their summer targets, following a transfer development on Wednesday afternoon regarding his future at his contracted club.

The League Two side have had a busy summer window so far, recruiting several new additions including Crawley Town’s Will Wright and Peterborough United’s Kabongo Tshimanga but are running out of time to make further additions with the window grinding to a halt this week.

Mark Kennedy’s side are yet to win a match so far this season, with their last victory dating back to a 3-2 win against AFC Wimbledon in mid-April (seven games ago).

However, a recent development on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that Swindon Town had missed out on another transfer target.

Swindon miss out on Welsh youth international

On Wednesday afternoon, Championship side Coventry City confirmed that midfielder Ryan Howley would be spending the 2024/25 campaign with Scottish Championship side Ayr United, linking up with former teammate Marco Rus.

The news from the Midlands comes as a blow to Swindon Town after they had previously held talks with the midfielder ahead of a potential switch to the League Two side on loan.

However, that deal is now off and Swindon Town will have to look elsewhere if they feel as though they need another versatile central midfielder before the window closes on Friday.

How did Howley fare last season?

Howley kicked off the 2023/24 season by being rewarded with a new contract at the CBS Arena, before being shipped out to SPFL side Dundee on a season-long loan.

In the SPFL, Howley made a total of 14 appearances across all domestic competitions, featuring against the likes of Celtic and Rangers.

He also featured for the Sky Blues during an EFL Cup defeat against AFC Wimbledon but will now see out a second consecutive season on loan in Scotland, rather than signing for Swindon Town.
