Anthony Edwards had a surprising response to Nikola Jokic’s outstanding performance in Game 5
Win or lose, Anthony Edwards usually speaks in a very assured manner following each game. This time, however, the tone was a little different following Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets.
Edwards was forced to give Jokic his due after the Denver Nuggets thoroughly outplayed the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
“I simply chuckle,” Edwards stated. “All I can do is that. I can’t possibly be angry. Man, he’s good. I said as much following our victories in Games 1 and 2. He is the NBA’s top player and the MVP. He demonstrated that in the previous three games. Tonight, he was unique. I had to offer his flowers to him. He was that guy tonight, so I’m not sure what we should do.”
In Game 5, Nikola Jokic shot 68/67/89 from the field and finished with 40 points, 13 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. He also committed no turnovers. Jokic had a flawless game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and was practically unstoppable while he was on the field.
Even though Anthony Edwards has been excellent throughout the playoffs, Nikola Jokic showed everyone—including Edwards—why he is the NBA’s top player. In Game 5, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost for the third time in a row for the first time this season. The Denver Nuggets can now advance to the Western Conference Finals with just one victory.
