“Looking Back, Leaving the Kansas City Chiefs Was a Step Up” – Ex-Chiefs Star Throws Major Shade at His Former Club with Bold Remarks

In a recent interview, former Kansas City Chiefs standout linebacker Malik Hitchens didn’t hold back when reflecting on his departure from the team. Hitchens, who spent several seasons with the Chiefs, described leaving as a pivotal moment in his career, declaring it “the best decision I ever made.”

“Looking back, leaving Kansas City was a step up,” Hitchens stated candidly. “I appreciated the fans and the city, but the coaching and the direction of the team? That’s where I felt things were lacking.”

Hitchens, now thriving with his new team, took aim at former Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. “The defensive schemes were predictable, and it often felt like we were one step behind the competition,” Hitchens noted. “I realized I needed to move on to grow as a player and reach my full potential.”

Despite the Chiefs’ recent success in the NFL, including a Super Bowl victory, Hitchens’ comments underscore the internal frustrations that led to his departure. Since leaving Kansas City, he has not only excelled individually but has also become a key contributor to a team aiming for playoff contention.

When asked if he would ever consider returning to the Chiefs, Hitchens brushed off the idea. “I’ve found a much better situation,” he said. “My time in Kansas City was important, but I have no regrets about leaving.”

While the Chiefs have yet to respond to Hitchens’ remarks, it’s clear that the relationship between the player and the franchise has taken a turn for the worse. Fans and former teammates are sure to have strong reactions, but for now, it’s evident that Hitchens’ departure has marked a significant turning point in his career.
