Star Player Makes Swindon Debut Memorable with Stunning Goal
With Swindon Town winning 2-0 at Barrow AFC, Williams Kokolo scored his first goal, leaving him overjoyed.
With a quick finish from right inside the penalty area, the AS Monaco academy graduate put Town ahead and led them to an unexpected victory away in Cumbria.
Although Kokolo was happy with the pass, he expressed uncertainty that he would receive the ball from George McEachran. “We won, picked up three points, and I’m glad I scored my first goal for Swindon in a big game,” he stated.
To be honest, I was shouting “George, George” and thought George was not going to give the ball to me. Nevertheless, he did, and I am thrilled that I scored the goal on my first attempt.
“I am not going to lie [I have been waiting for that for a while], of course.” Despite the unfavorable expected goals battle, Swindon’s defense held firm and kept the Bluebirds from taking many easy shots after they broke ahead.
Against a squad vying for promotion, Kokolo was especially happy with his colleagues’ work ethic and enthusiasm to tour the entire nation and bring something to the table.
“I believe it was perfect because the team and I worked really hard to ensure that we didn’t give up the goal, which allowed us to win the three points,” he stated.
“Everyone has been unhappy since Monday following the game, so we felt compelled to take action. “It’s fantastic that we came here and gave the fans and the club a great show.
“I think we need to go and get three points in the next game, it is a big game against Wimbledon and go about winning the next game and the next game.”
Kokolo joined Swindon in November, having not played in a league match for almost a year. Since then, he has made 24 appearances for Town and is happy to be back playing regular football.
“I am happy to be back and playing a lot of games,” he declared. “I’ve scored a goal now; will I score one more in the upcoming game? Though I’m not sure, I hope so. Being able to play again has just been wonderful.”
