A Toronto Blue Jays fan who was struck in the head by a foul ball traveling at 110 mph is receiving a consolation prize. The spectator, later named as Liz McGuire, was hit by a foul ball hit by shortstop Bo Bichette during the Blue Jays’ 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre on Friday.
She posted graphic images of her injuries on social media. Hello @BlueJays, I got hit in the face by a 110 mph foul ball that was hit by Bo Bichette’s bat,” McGuire said on social media, revealing the full extent of her injuries.
In one picture, McGuire had a baseball-sized lump on her forehead; in another, the swelling had subsided, revealing her ugly black eye.
“I didn’t even get the ball,” she went on. I remained all the way through the game. Can you help me hook up with a girl? The Blue Jays acknowledged in a statement to the local television station CTVNewsToronto that they did, in fact, provide McGuire with some goods after her accident, along with some tickets and a signed baseball.

“We made precisely 110 copies, all of which we’re giving to @lizzzzzzzzzy. You’re a champ, Liz!” On X, formerly Twitter, the trading card firm made an announcement on Monday. With a “PROPS TO @Topps THIS RULES,” McGuire answered.
McGuire clarified that the foul ball “went over the mesh,” alluding to the safety netting installed in ballparks to avert incidents of this nature. “It happened so quickly! I guess I couldn’t have stopped even if I tried,” she wrote on X, “I just turned away for a second.”
Following the game, McGuire went to the emergency department where doctors determined she had no fractures or concussions and was treated by Blue Jays medical staff: “Face scans came back a-okay!!”
