Transfer Saga : Jaden philogene snubs Everton bid for …
According to the Hull Daily Mail’s Baz Cooper [10 July], the 22-year-old wasn’t anywhere to be seen as the Tigers jetted off to Istanbul for pre-season preparations.
This would, obviously, suggest that the Toffees were getting closer to sealing a move for the winger, with Sean Dyche’s side credited with interest this summer, alongside Aston Villa, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, West Ham [The Athletic].
The transfer saga looks to be heating up even further after Fabrizio Romano reported [10 July] that his former club Villa have activated a matching rights clause despite the Toffees agreeing an £18million deal in principle for the player [Sky Sports].
The latest update, however, could suggest that all interested parties are set to miss out on the star’s signature this summer because, as per BBC Sport’s Mike White (11 July), Philogene has made a “surprise” appearance at Hull’s training camp in Turkey.
While many Evertonians will have been excited by the reports of Philogene being left out of the Tigers’ trip to Turkey, this update will come as a massive blow.
The 22-year-old notched 12 goals and six assists in 32 Championship appearances last term, becoming quite the star at the MKM Stadium and attracting interest from multiple clubs.
Philogene has only recently managed to find enough valuable game time, having left Villa Park under 10 months ago after making just six first-team appearances for the Villans.
Dyche would have been very excited to add a player of Philogene’s calibre to the Toffees squad this summer, with the winger position often an area of weakness at Goodison Park.
The Evertonians may need to look elsewhere now, though, with Philogene throwing another curveball for the interested clubs this summer.
In other Everton news, Wilfried Ndidi has decided on an offer from Goodison Park, with a deal to be confirmed within days.
