Shocking Twist: Ex-NRL Star Escapes Serious Drug Charges—You Won’t Believe What Happened!
Former Canterbury Bulldogs and Wests Tigers playmaker Brandon Wakeham has had drug supply charges dropped following his May arrest.
After an eight-month investigation, Wakeham was detained in the Brookvale Oval car park and charged with commercial drug supply, indictable drug supply, and involvement in a criminal group. However, according to The Sydney Morning Herald, these charges were dismissed on Tuesday at Sydney’s Downing Centre court.
Wakeham last played in the NRL in 2023 with the Wests Tigers and has made 40 NRL appearances since his 2019 debut—25 with the Bulldogs and 15 with the Tigers. Recently, he played in the NSW Cup for the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles and was named in the Manly Sea Eagles’ extended squad this season.
Known for his role in the halves as either a five-eighth or halfback, Wakeham has also represented Fiji internationally, playing in eight matches.
Wakeham’s lawyer, Elias Tabchouri, told The Daily Telegraph that the case’s outcome proves Wakeham’s innocence. “We have always believed in Brandon and fought for him tirelessly. Today, Brandon is vindicated. He is extremely happy and looking forward to rebuilding his life after a very difficult and trying time,” said Tabchouri.
