A drug user who who smashed up a beautiful family cottage to the tune of £108,000 has been told he faces at least two years in prison.
David Holford appeared at Telford Magistrates Court this week where he admitted one count of burglary with intent to cause damage.
The 37-year-old formerly lived at Princess Avenue in Arleston, Telford, but is now of Stanley Avenue in Gloucester.
Ms Price said Holford’s damage amounted to some £108,0000 and was caused between June 1 and 7, 2023.
The property had been on the market since the death of its owner who had lovingly updated it in that time.

Neighbors described hearing loud crashes and seeing the man frantically smashing windows, doors, and furniture inside the house. “It was terrifying,” one local resident said. “We heard a lot of noise and didn’t know what was happening. The next thing we knew, the police were here, and the place looked like it had been hit by a tornado.”
Investigators revealed that the suspect had been under pressure from drug dealers and took out his frustration on the cottage, hoping to sell valuable items to cover his debts. However, the extensive damage ended up making the situation even worse, with the total repair costs now far exceeding the value of anything he might have salvaged.
The owners of the cottage, who were away at the time, are devastated by the loss. “This was our family home, a place filled with memories. To see it destroyed like this is heartbreaking,” they said in a statement.
The suspect has since been arrested and is facing multiple charges, including criminal damage and drug-related offenses. As the investigation continues, this incident serves as yet another grim reminder of the destructive impact of drug addiction on individuals and their co mmunities.
