The night marked a nostalgic homecoming for Steven Stamkos, now a visiting player in Tampa after his celebrated tenure with the Lightning. Returning to his former home arena stirred a mix of emotions for Stamkos and the fans, who packed the stands to honor their former captain. Tampa may have won that night, but Stamkos’ impact on the game and the city was undeniable.
“It was emotional,” Stamkos admitted post-game. “You never really know how much a place means to you until you come back and look at it from the other side.”
The Preds faced an old rival in the Chicago Blackhawks, and they made it a game to remember. Nashville started slow, falling behind early in the game. But as the third period approached, the team was ready for a comeback. Hammer and Herz recapped the energy that surged through the Bridgestone Arena as Nashville came roaring back, scoring three unanswered goals to secure the win.
“The team just came alive in that third period,” Herz recounted. “It was like they were feeding off the crowd’s energy.”
With little time to rest, the Preds faced the Blue Jackets next, and fans braced for another battle. Columbus dominated the opening two periods, but Nashville turned things around in the third. It was a nail-biter as the Preds fought their way back to edge out Columbus, completing a spectacular comeback and sending fans home thrilled.
