It’s Official: Today is dedicated to honoring the Iowa Hawkeye Women’s Basketball team
Today, April 22, has been declared as Iowa Hawkeye Women’s Basketball Appreciation Day by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
This season, the women’s basketball team from Iowa achieved their goals. From selling out arenas to drawing unprecedented viewership, they went on to win the Big 10 Championship and make it back to the NCAA tournament. and securing a spot in the national championship game for the next year.
From Hollywood celebs to diehard Hawkeyes, they enthralled people all over the country. They embodied the best qualities of our state in every aspect, and their star power was evident.
would want to extend my congratulations and gratitude to Jan Jensen, Lisa Bluder, and the entire coaching and support team. Not to mention the team. Women’s basketball was revolutionized by you, Caitlin, Kate, Gabbie, Hannah, Molly, Taylor, Sydney, Kylie, Kennise, Jayda, AJ, Ava, Sharon, and Addison. You encouraged young girls and boys to dream big, put in a lot of effort, and have faith in their abilities. Above all, you demonstrated to us all what a real champion is.
It is my honor to proclaim today, Monday, April 22, Iowa Women’s Basketball Appreciation Day in honor of everything you have accomplished and everything you stand for.
Kudos for an amazing season to the Hawkeye women’s team and coaches. We adore you so much.
