News: Cardinals Throw Epic Whitey Herzog Night to Celebrate Legendary Hall of Fame Manager

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The St. Louis Cardinals will honor and celebrate late Hall of Fame Manager Whitey Herzog on July 10.

On Whitey Herzog Night, Cardinals Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Ted Simmons, Chris Carpenter and Jason Isringhausen will join Herzog’s three children for a special pregame ceremony. The first 15,000 fans attending the game, age 16 and older, will get a t-shirt courtesy of Brown & Crouppen. In addition, 10,000 fans will get a Whitey Herzog decal courtesy of Shelter Insurance.

Herzog died in April at the age of 92.

Herzog, the gruff and ingenious Hall of Fame manager who guided the St. Louis Cardinals to three pennants and a World Series title in the 1980s and perfected an intricate, nail-biting strategy known as “Whiteyball,” has died. He was 92. Cardinals spokesman Brian Bartow said Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the team had been informed of his death by Herzog’s family.
