News: Baltimore Orioles Make Stunning Comeback( What An Achievement)
The Baltimore Orioles accomplished something on Wednesday night when they overcame Kansas City in a fashion they hadn’t seen in twenty-one years.
Because of the intense rain in the area, the Baltimore Orioles had to wait a few hours to finish their series against the Kansas City Royals.
It was worth waiting. For the first time in twenty-one years, the Orioles took an action.
With two RBIs from a walk-off single, James McCann helped the Orioles defeat the Royals 4-3, improving their record to 4-2 overall.
Monday’s 6-4 victory over Kansas City marked the Orioles’ second walk-off victory in three games. Jordan Westburg gave the Orioles the lead in that game with a two-run home run.
With that, the Orioles have won two of their first six games on walk-off bases. That is the first instance since 2003 that it has occurred. According to MLB.com, the Orioles have only accomplished that twice in franchise history: in 2001 and 1964.
The Orioles ended their homestand with an announced attendance of 11,488; however, due to bad weather, the crowd was much smaller. Pitcher Cole Ragans of Kansas City contributed to the Orioles being held to just one hit in the opening seven innings.
The Orioles were behind 3-0 at that point. Thanks to an RBI sacrifice fly by Gunnar Henderson and an RBI single by Adley Rutschman, the Orioles scored two runs in the eighth inning.
The Orioles won after McCann singled home Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins in the ninth inning.
After having a day off on Thursday, the Orioles will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday to begin their first series away from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Baltimore next travels to Boston for a three-game series against the Red Sox before hosting the Milwaukee Brewers on April 12 at home.
