“NBA Drama Unfolds: Los Angeles Lakers Fires Their Own..
Darvin Ham was sacked as the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach on Friday, four days after the team was eliminated from the NBA playoffs by Denver, the club confirmed.
Ham led the Lakers to a 90-74 record over two seasons, but they were routed by eventual NBA champion Denver in last year’s Western Conference final and defeated in five games by the Nuggets in round one this season. “We greatly appreciate Darvin’s efforts on behalf of the Lakers and recognize the many accomplishments achieved over the past two seasons, including last year’s remarkable run to the Western Conference finals,” Lakers vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka stated.
“While this was a difficult decision to make, it is the right course of action after a thorough evaluation of the season. This organization will stay steadfast in its commitment to providing championship-caliber basketball to Lakers fans across the world.”
In addition to who will be appointed to lead the team next, the Lakers are concerned about the future of superstar LeBron James, a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player who can opt out of his contract next season.
