The families of race car drivers often find it hard to stay away from the tracks themselves – most times for cheering and other times to try their own hands in racing. And when you have multiple drivers in the family, you automatically get inclined to get the adrenaline rush yourself. Take the case of Katelyn Sweet, whose brother, Brad Sweet, and husband, Kyle Larson, are both dirt racers. Moreover, her son, Owen Miyata, has also recently registered his first win at Coles County in the Junior Sprint race. Even her daughter, Audrey Layne, is eager to begin racing, subject to her coming of age.
Taking inspiration from all the drivers around her, Katelyn got herself into a dirt car at Charlotte Motor Speedway. But her stint was short-lived as she could not sustain herself on the third lap. “I’ve got bruises all over my body.”, she later confirmed. Kyle Larson’s wife, Katelyn, has been a professional runner and an equestrian before that. While she left it all to run her beauty business, she has strong sportsman roots, making her extremely competitive. While talking to Kenny Wallace, Katelyn herself admitted, “I just am too, I think I’m just too competitive to run in the back. So, I was trying to make passes that weren’t very good.”

This statement was in the context of the dirt racing stint, where she wrecked the car in an attempt to get ahead. She might need some lessons from hubby Yung Money before considering a career in the field. When asked if she was a dirt racer, Katelyn responded, “Absolutely. Well, not actually, like I tried my hand in dirt racing this, that weekend and it didn’t really work…But a dirt racing fan at that, for sure.”
So, she wouldn’t need the technical guidance after all. However, she wouldn’t take it from Kyle anyway, as Katelyn earlier commented on his driving skills as “worst.” But she clarified that she was not talking about race tracks but the regular roads. “This is a new car, and we had it for 2 weeks and he hit a curb like 3 times already, scratched the wheel, I’m like come on do you [not] know how to turn into a parking lot?” she added.
It can be inferred from this incident that race car drivers are as much humans and make these mistakes as the rest of us. To allow the fans to see them as normal people, a reality show called ‘Dirt’ follows the drivers and their families on and off the tracks. Liking the concept, Katelyn remarked, “I think it’s just getting a glimpse into seeing our lives away from the race track, [which] to me would be the most compelling thing to view.”
