Just In: Shocking Reason Behind Cardinals Phenom Masyn Winn’s Sunday Game Absence Despite Explosive Performance

Masyn Winn is a great prospect, and the St. Louis Cardinals are like what they are seeing out of him right now. In 2023, Winn made his major league debut near the conclusion of the season, although he struggled and only played in 37 games.

After Spring Training, the rookie shortstop joined the team’s big league roster and assumed the starting shortstop position. The 22-year-old has performed admirably and may possibly have started the season as St. Louis’ best hitter.

Although Winn has shown promise, fans were surprised to see him left out of the starting lineup on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks, dropping to 7-9 on the year.

According to MLB.com’s John Denton, Winn appears to be in good health and the day off was only a precaution to give his body a break despite his early success.

“At issue was rookie shortstop Masyn Winn getting another day off on Sunday even though he didn’t start on Wednesday and had Thursday to rest following a team travel day,” Denton stated.

“Winn, the top hitter for the Cards this year at.349), had two RBIs, four hits, and a stolen base in the first two games of the Arizona series, but manager Oliver Marmol of the Cardinals stated that the team is attempting to maintain Winn’s health for the duration of the campaign.

“Masyn requires a day,” stated Marmol. “His body could benefit from it, and we discussed it. He’s doing everything you would want him to do: running the bases, playing solid defense, and swinging the bat.

However, after talking with him, I thought that today would be a good day for him to take it off. He will be playing for a long time, so it will be crucial to keep him fresh.”

This is not entirely unexpected. Winn is still a young player and has not yet participated in a whole Major League Baseball season. Despite the challenges, Cardinals supporters should be happy that the team is taking the required measures to keep him healthy throughout the season.
