Everton has been informed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe that Jarrad Branthwaite won’t be used as a ransom against Manchester United. The developing star is one of United’s top priorities for this summer’s transfer window, according to the team’s managers.
The 21-year-old was named in Gareth Southgate’s original England team ahead of the Euros, demonstrating his status as one of the Premier League’s greatest young defenders.
However, United and Everton seem headed for a collision due to Branthwaite’s valuation, which would cause Ratcliffe’s first significant deal since joining United to fall through.
Branthwaite is valued at roughly £60 million by United, but Everton will likely demand around £80 million for him.
Following his appointment as football operations manager in January, Ratcliffe has finished analyzing United’s most recent transfer activity. The billionaire is adamant that United has overpaid on multiple occasions and is not going to make the same mistake with Branthwaite.

The long-term prospects of defenders Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are also in question. Other options are Chelsea sensation Levi Colwill, Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, and England and Crystal Palace player Marc Guehi. With Everton through 2027, Branthwaite is a contract player. He was just elected Players’ Player and Supporters’ Young Player of the Year by his club.
