The Suns should have expected this, given Vogel’s reputation as a defensive coach. They expected him to deliver a great offensive performance, despite the fact that this is not his usual style.
The Suns are now “all-in on offensive creativity” with the hire of Mike Budenholzer, according to Sidery. This implies Phoenix’s front staff certainly has a plan, and now they’ll see if Budenholzer can commit to it in ways Vogel couldn’t.
