DONE DEAL: “Wigan Warriors Announce Blockbuster Contract for Brad O’Neill!”

Wigan Warriors have moved to secure hooker Brad O’Neill to a new long-term contract. The 22-year-old has signed a new deal with the quadruple winners in a deal which will see him stay with the club until the end of 2029.

O’Neill was already contracted to Wigan until the end of 2027 but the new deal represents the club’s desire to make O’Neill one of their key players in the years to come.

He is expected to miss the start of the season as he continues to recover from an ACL injury, with an anticipated return in April. However, the club has wasted no time in ensuring he will remain with the club long-term.

I’m over the moon to extend my contract at Wigan,” O’Neill said. “I feel like there is still a lot of hard work to be done, a lot for me still to learn, and I feel my best years are certainly in front of me. I feel that this is the best Club for me to develop, with this group of players, coaching staff and facilities.”

Head coach Matt Peet added: “When Kris [Radlinski] told me that he and Brad had agreed this deal, I was delighted. It’s a big move for us to secure such an important member of the team for such a length of time.

“I love working with Brad, he is a great example of a Wigan player on and off the field. The fact he has come through our Academy, a lot of our staff will be really proud.”

O’Neill becomes the latest player to sign a long-term contract with the club. Junior Nsemba is the longest contracted player with his deal running until the end of 2030. Jake Wardle is also contracted to 2029 while Zach Eckersley, Bevan French and Liam Marshall are all committed until 2028.

Chief Executive, Kris Radlinski added: “Brad would rank highly both as a player and as an individual in our internal discussions. He has the potential for an outstanding career, with his best years still to come. He embodies the core values we cherish at our club and will play a key role in shaping our culture for many years to come.”
