Disheartening News: Exeter City’s Star Player Set for Shock Exit at Season’s End

A product of Exeter City Academy When his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, Harry Kite will depart from the Grecians. It has been revealed by City manager Gary Caldwell that the 23-year-old will be

leaving St James Park during the summer. Since making his City debut in 2017, the midfielder has appeared in 100 games and scored seven goals. He played a crucial role in the team’s 2022–2023 promotion from League Two.

However, Kite had a difficult time getting into the game this season. Of his 23 appearances, only five came in 2024, and he only made nine starts in the league overall.

Following Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Port Vale—a game in which City overcame a 2-0 behind thanks to Kite’s second-half substitution—Caldwell verified the long-awaited news.

You already know what to expect from him since I’ve been here,” the manager remarked. “We are proud to have him as another Academy graduate; he is an incredible pro.”

It’s excellent that he has this game, and perhaps we can get something at St James Park before the season ends. He will be leaving the club in the summer. We hope to be able to include him in the squad at some time, as we knew he had played 99 games. We also wanted to give him a game SJP for his contributions.

After Alex Hartridge, Kite is the second academy alumnus to be reported as departing this summer. The defender declined a new contract offer and will leave the Grecians at the end of the current campaign.
