Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal for Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke.
Charlton Athletic are in for an important summer as they prepare to make the step up to the Championship. CAFC are out to make an impact after winning the League One play-offs and are backed for success by many.
While boasting some talented players and an esteemed academy, manager Nathan Jones is perhaps their biggest on the rise back to the second tier.
The Addicks look to be backing Jones with some solid additions too, and excitement has grown amid links with a move for Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.
Now, writing on X, reporter Pete O’Rourke claims Charlton Athletic have now agreed a deal with the Hatters to sign the Belgium international.
The move is widely expected to be a permanent one with a drop to League One not on the radar of 32-year-old Kaminski, who joined Luton when they were in the Premier League just two years ago.
Kaminski will bring a wealth of experience to CAFC and will be widely expected to displace ‘keeper Will Mannion in Jones’ starting XI on the rise to the Championship for the 2025/25 campaign.
A fine signing for Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic will be eager to strike a fine balance of experienced pros and future assets with their summer recruitment. Players who boast resale value are a must for a sustainably run side, but individuals of Kaminski’s pedigree are needed to help manage the step up.
Aged 32, Kaminski has played nearly 500 games in his career to date. 160 of those have come in the Championship, and he has a season of Premier League football under his belt from his time at Luton Town too.
The soon-to-be CAFC ‘keeper has also been a regular around the Belgium squad, offering cover in goal on a regular basis despite only making one appearance.
More work to be done
Charlton Athletic look set to make Kaminski signing number two of the summer, but Jones and the recruitment staff will know there is plenty more work to be done yet.
Sonny Carey has signed on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Blackpool. There remains gaps in the squad to fill and investment is a must.
It is not out of the question that a new striker is targeted, though many will back Matty Godden to keep delivering the goods despite nearing his 34th birthday. Fresh options out wide are required following Thierry Small’s exit and general depth across the board will be required after a handful of free transfer exits.
