Dennis Allen Reflects on Close Loss to Falcons: “We Know We Have a Good Football Team
In a closely contested divisional matchup, the New Orleans Saints fell short against the Atlanta Falcons, losing by a narrow margin. Despite the 24-21 defeat, Saints head coach Dennis Allen remained confident in his team, emphasizing their potential and resilience.
“We know we have a good football team,” Allen remarked in his post-game interview, acknowledging the tough loss but expressing faith in his squad’s capabilities. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with key performances from both teams.
For the Saints, quarterback Derek Carr led the offense, throwing for 289 yards and two touchdowns. However, turnovers, including a costly interception late in the fourth quarter, hindered the Saints’ ability to secure a win. Running back Alvin Kamara contributed 98 rushing yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Chris Olave stood out with 112 receiving yards and a score.
On the other side, the Falcons’ rookie sensation Bijan Robinson was a game-changer, rushing for 126 yards and a touchdown. Atlanta quarterback Desmond Ridder also had a solid outing, passing for 232 yards and one touchdown.
Dennis Allen highlighted the need to clean up mistakes, particularly on defense, where the Saints struggled to contain Robinson and the Falcons’ rushing attack. Linebacker Demario Davis and defensive end Cameron Jordan made crucial stops, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.
“We have to execute better in key situations, but I believe in this team. We’re close, and we’ll learn from this,” Allen concluded.
The Saints, now 6-6, will look to bounce back in their next game against the Detroit Lions, while the Falcons improve to 7-5, inching ahead in the NFC South.
