Frank Lampard praises Jamie Allen for his impressive display in Coventry City’s 1-0 win against Bristol City. The Sky Blues midfielder has reclaimed his starting position in the team after spending three months on the sidelines due to an injury.
Allen, who plays alongside Victor Torp in midfield, impressed Lampard with his performance. The manager praised Allen for being a ‘dream to work with’, citing his strong work ethic and good football skills.
“He’s a player who loves his job and doesn’t say much, but he’s a great trainer and I thought his performance alongside Torpy in midfield was really good in terms of play and his diligence,” Lampard said.
Allen’s performance has brought back his experience and qualities to the team, according to Lampard. The midfielder is now showing his experience after initially struggling to find his footing in the team due to his injury.
Lampard also explained his selection policy, stating that he chooses players based on their performance and preparation. He mentioned that Joel Latibeaudiere was restored to the starting XI, replacing Bobby Thomas, while Jay Dasilva played on the left ahead of Jake Bidwell.
The manager said he makes decisions based on the opponent, the game in front of them, and the need to keep players ready for the upcoming busy period. He lives by the principle that if players train well and are ready, they will play, and if they play well, they will generally stay in the starting line-up.
