Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said Gassan Ahadme will come back into ‘contention’ on Tuesday night.

Charlton Athletic are back in League One action with an away trip to the Memorial Ground to take on Bristol Rovers. They will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss at Stevenage over the weekend.

Ahadme, 23, missed their match against Boro last time out with a fractured nose. However, he is expected to be available again now.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Jones has said, as per a report by London News Online: “He just needed his mask to arrive. He can’t play without the mask. The mask takes a little bit of time. It was one of those things. It has arrived now so he will be back in contention.”

Charlton Athletic started Matt Godden and Dan Kanu in his position against Stevenage, with Chuks Aneke coming on off the bench.

Getting Ahadme back would be a boost for Charlton Athletic.

He provides competition and depth up top and gives them something different.

The attacker has scored once so far for the Addicks since his summer switch and will be eyeing more goals over the coming weeks and months.

Prior to joining Charlton Athletic, Ahadme spent the last campaign on loan at Cambridge United from Ipswich Town and scored 13 goals in 33 games in all competitions.

The Spain-born man joined Norwich City as a youngster having previously been at Gimnástic Manresa but never made a senior appearance for the Canaries. Instead, he was loaned out from Carrow Road to Real Oviedo and Portsmouth.

Burton Albion snapped him up permanently in 2021 and he scored eight goals in 22 matches for the Brewers to land a switch to Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys rose from the third tier to the Premier League during his time at Portman Road but he didn’t get much game time under Kieran McKenna.
