“‘He Changed Everything’ – Danny McGuire’s Emotional Tribute to Castleford Tigers Hero!”
Castleford Tigers cruised to their second win of the season as they defeated winless Huddersfield Giants and Danny McGuire has given his verdict.
After losing 13-12 to Wakefield Trinity last week despite leading 12-0, the Tigers broke their losing streak as they beat the Giants 30-12 in a controlled performance.
Castleford were far from stellar but they didn’t need to be and the win will give them great confidence ahead of their second clash with rivals Trinity, coming next week at Magic Weekend.
Tigers’ head coach Danny McGuire gave his verdict post-match on Sky Sports, praising his side’s attitude in what could have been a potential banana skin.
On his second Super League win as a head coach, McGuire said: “I’m really pleased. I thought it was a disciplined performance. I thought we did some really good things. I thought our control and composure, I thought our half-backs were good. I thought Rowan (Milnes) and DJ (Daejarn Asi) controlled the game really well.
“We made some smart decisions at the end of sets, probably something we’ve probably lacked at times this year. We had a good attitude to the tough stuff.”

McGuire admitted that it was a result that had perhaps been coming with the club certainly turning a corner of late in regards to their performances.
He conceded: “It wasn’t perfect, there’s some bits that we can work on but I think overall really pleasing and the lads have got the rewards for a really good week and probably a really good few weeks to be honest.
“It’s taken time to come together and we’ve got some new arrivals now so we’ve probably got a little bit more physical presence there which helps. We’ve got a few bumps and bruises there as well but I thought overall it was a really good team performance, really committed and in this game you get what you deserve and I thought we deserved it today.”
One of those new arrivals was Tom Amone and his influence was noted by McGuire, both in the build-up and in the game, with McGuire asked specifically about the former Leigh Leopards man’s performance.
On that, the Castleford coach said: “Really good and I said in the week I think his influence is probably bigger than he realises and he has lifted a fair few other boys around him.
“To get off a plane a week ago and then go out and play a good 50-minute stint there in three spells, it bodes well for us going forward. I thought all that middles were strong, I thought Singo (Brad Singleton) was really good when he came on and his experience and the way he goes about things was good for us today.
