Castleford Tigers star Joe Westerman and wife Lauren share happy news as couple expect fourth child ahead of Super League clash

Castleford Tigers veteran Joe Westerman and his wife Lauren have shared heartwarming news ahead of the club’s upcoming Super League clash – the couple are expecting their fourth child.

The 34-year-old loose forward, who remains a key figure in Danny McGuire’s squad, made the announcement with Lauren earlier this week. The couple, already doting parents to three children, say they’re over the moon to be expanding their family once again.

Speaking about the news, Westerman said: “We’re absolutely buzzing. Family means everything to me, and Lauren and the kids are my rock. To be welcoming a fourth is just incredible – we feel really lucky.”

Lauren also shared her excitement, adding: “It’s been such a lovely few weeks keeping this to ourselves, but we’re so happy to finally share the news. The kids are so excited to have a new little brother or sister on the way.”

Westerman, known for his fierce competitiveness on the field and dedication off it, has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 season despite Castleford’s mixed form. The Tigers are currently rebuilding under new head coach McGuire, and Westerman’s experience and leadership have been vital both in matches and around the training ground.

The news has been well received in the Castleford camp, with teammates offering their congratulations to the Westermans during the week.

Head coach Danny McGuire praised the veteran’s influence on and off the field. “Joe’s been outstanding this season – he leads by example every single day. This is fantastic news for him and Lauren, and all of us at the club are absolutely made up for them.”

Supporters have also shared their well-wishes across social media, applauding the couple’s growing family and praising Westerman’s continued commitment to the club amid the excitement at home.

The timing of the announcement adds a personal boost for Westerman as Castleford prepare for their next test in the Super League. Despite juggling the demands of elite rugby and family life, Westerman remains as determined as ever.

“I’ve always tried to give everything I’ve got – for my family, my teammates, and this club,” Westerman said. “This new chapter just gives me even more motivation.”

With a baby on the way and a big season ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be a memorable year for the Westermans.
