As part of Julen Lopetegui’s squad rebuilding strategy, West Ham United may lose six defenders this summer, according to The Athletic.
At the end of the season, Ben Johnson, Aaron Cresswell, and Angelo Ogbonna have contracts that expire. Johnson has turned down new offers, Cresswell hasn’t played much, and Ogbonna is anticipated to retire.
On top of those departures, Nayef Aguerd “would like to leave” after losing his spot to Dinos Mavropanos this season due to interest from Saudi Arabia and France, while Vladimir Coufal is also open to offers from elsewhere following a fallout over his contract.
Following a successful loan at Monaco, Thilo Kehrer is also anticipated to depart; the Ligue 1 team has the option to extend the agreement, which they are anticipated to do.
