Breaking News: Orioles Shock Fans with Surprise Call-Up to Fill Injured Starter’s Shoes
The Baltimore Orioles announced that their new call-up will begin the series finale on Thursday, and they made an intriguing roster move.
The Baltimore Orioles placed Tyler Wells on the injured list due to inflammation in his elbow, adding another player to their already impressive roster of ailing players.
Given the right-hander’s 3.96 ERA in his previous three seasons and his 5.87 ERA thus far this year, it appears that a problem may have arisen during his first three appearances.
Additionally, the Orioles are on the verge of welcoming back Kyle Bradish and John Means, so their starting lineup should resemble what they had envisioned all winter long.
But in the near future, they’ll need someone to replace Wells.
Baltimore declared that they have designated catcher David Banuelos for assignment and called up pitcher Albert Suarez from Triple-A to their active roster.
Suarez has not had a stellar season thus far, with an ERA of 5.87 in his three minor league appearances and one start; but, on Wednesday, they will start him in the series finale against the Minnesota Twins.
After being brought up on Tuesday, manager Brandon Hyde gave 27-year-old Banuelos an at-bat in the eighth inning, marking his Major League debut. He flew out to right field, which unfortunately prevented him from getting his first career hit, but before being sent back to the minor leagues, he still had a fantastic experience in an MLB game.
The Orioles are just a half game out of first place in their division and have gone 6-4 over their last ten games. They have been playing excellent baseball.
As they wait for their starting pitching staff to recover, they’ll need to maintain the offensive prowess they’ve displayed for the majority of the season.
