Yeah, they lost to the Canucks, but Nashville exceeded most people’s expectations this past season. Nashville has a nice amount of cap space but usually don’t spend to the ceiling. They have most of their roster coming back and have some draft assets to work with this summer. If they want to make a bold splash, they could — and might.

Barry Trotz turned the ship quickly and got Nashville back into the playoffs and Andrew Brunette is a finalist for the Jack Adams again, but this time with some job security. They’re looking to get better in a division with a lot of opportunity. The Preds have plenty of cap space even while still carrying $11,805,556 in dead cap space from the buyouts of Matt Duchene and Kyle Turris and the salary retained in trades of Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Johansen.
The Predators are rumored to be big game hunting this summer to make a big move up in the standings. So keep an eye on their draft capital being in play as they look to strike.
