Breaking: Jon Rahm’s US Open Hopes Hang in the Balance After LIV Houston Exit

Jon Rahm withdrew during the second round of LIV Golf’s Houston event on Saturday, making him a doubt for the US Open at Pinehurst next week.

The two-time major champion is expected to hold a pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday despite having a foot infection. Rahm’s condition was already in doubt with the release of video showing him wince in pain following a tee shot on the seventh hole in the first round.

During his Augusta National defense, the Spaniard finished T45 at the Masters, which caused him to miss the cut at the PGA Championship. He has struggled this year, going winless on the LIV circuit and projecting frustration at the major championships.

After embarking on the tour supported by Saudi Arabia, Rahm’s form has deteriorated. He placed in the top-10 in three of the four majors last year, including the US Open, where he placed T10.

Since arriving at the end of 2023, the 2021 US Open champion hasn’t appeared to be at ease on the LIV circuit, and rumors have it that he is dissatisfied with the lifestyle there.
