Breaking: FC Halifax Town Drops Bombshell About Sunderland Star Caden Kelly’s Future
In the forthcoming transfer window, the National League team has been linked to a loan move for the Sunderland young player. Reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon page that they want to entice him to The Shay. At the Stadium of Light, Kelly, 20, has been registered since 2020.
He signed his first professional contract with the Black Cats in 2022, and they just stated on their retained list that they have exercised their option to keep him on for a longer period of time. According to a Halifax Courier story, Millington stated: “Nothing in that at all, no.” Last year, we didn’t take out any loans.
Although some may view that negatively, the reality is that it means that guys like Adam Senior, Jack Evans, Flo Hoti, Adan George, Andrew Oluwabori, and Kane Thomson-Sommers have all got. Kelly would have benefited from moving to Halifax.
But Sunderland will have to search elsewhere for him to temporarily reside. He spent time in the Manchester City and Salford City academies before joining the Black Cats. He also attended the Football Flick Academy for a short time.
Before moving up to Sunderland’s Under-21 team, the Ireland-born player scored seven goals in 34 appearances for the Under-18 team. Since then, he has scored 11 goals and contributed 13 assists in 47 games for the development squad.
Although he has made two appearances for the first team, he hasn’t yet been able to establish himself in the senior lineup. For this Sunderland man, what next? Getting some regular game time under his belt lower down the football pyramid would be a smart choice to help boost Kelly’s development, and Sunderland will be considering his next move.
Halifax, on the other hand, isn’t in for him as they intend to make another run at promotion from the fifth division the following season.
The Black Cats’ first priority will be to appoint a new manager. After Mike Dodds served as a temporary replacement for Michael Beale, they are still debating their final choice.
