When the Phoenix Suns acquired Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets prior to the NBA trade deadline in 2023, it took the world by surprise.
He was teamed with Devin Booker, another superstar, by the front staff during this process, making them one of the best teams in the league.
With Booker and Durant leading the way, the Suns haven’t yet achieved their main objective of winning a championship, but they are still a formidable force for opposing defenses to handle.
It’s also evident that the former Wildcat appreciates playing alongside one of the players he looked up to before entering the league when you question him about his first season with KD.
Book explains why KD is the perfect running companion. The Suns have been constructing their club around the Kentucky native for some time, so when they made a switch and acquired Durant, supporters worldwide anticipated great things from them.
Even while each player has excelled on their own, their teams haven’t been good enough to prevail in the postseason. Some people are concerned that because Book and KD play basketball in such similar ways, they won’t get along well on the court.

The Suns anticipate great things from both players. In their first full season together, Booker and Durant both performed admirably and demonstrated their ability to work well together. The issue is that during the year, the remainder of their team experienced numerous issues.
It was hoped that pairing Bradley Beal—who was acquired from the Washington Wizards in a deal last offseason—with Devin and KD would result in a championship. The issue was that Beal had trouble in his debut season with the Suns, which is still a problem for Phoenix.
For the Suns, Booker had to step up his playmaking to make room for Durant and Beal. Nevertheless, it’s obvious that the squad has to work on it throughout the offseason. Phoenix certainly understands where they can make improvements this offseason when you combine that with the need for some depth at center.
