Karl has been making fun of Lakers fans virtually every day for years, especially after the Nuggets won the NBA last year.
It appears that those days might be coming to an end. George Karl, the former head coach of the Nuggets, apologized to the Los Angeles Lakers and their supporters on Twitter.
To All Lakers Supporters:
This season, I did not treat you with kindness. I overindulged in my sports hatred. I think the Lakers are the best sports team of the last 50 years, and I have the utmost regard for them. I apologize. Together, let’s once more live, love, and learn. Alright?

To be honest, there was probably never any animosity between the Lakers organization and George Karl. He’s retired, 73 years old, and probably simply using Twitter for pleasure. Particularly because his fan following kept providing him with so much content to keep enjoying himself.
When the Denver Nuggets were ousted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Conference Semifinals, no fan base celebrated more than the Los Angeles Lakers.
Denver has won all three of the teams’ postseason meetings between them since 2020, with a 2-1 advantage. George Karl’s apology doesn’t seem to be the end of the rivalry between these two teams because they will probably play each other again in the playoffs.
